Uruguay has taken the twentieth and final spot at Rugby World Cup 2015 by beating Russia 36-27 in Montevideo. That gave them a 57-49 aggregate in the series following a 1-point loss to the Russkis in the first game of in Krasnoyarsk.
Kudos to The Pongo Telegraph for actually sending their features writer Oliver Brown to report on the match. His article catches the exuberance of the crowd, as well as the frantic to and fro of the match.
Uruguay will go into Pool A, which means playing against England, Wales, Australia and Fiji. Of course they’re not going to win any of those matches. That’s not really the point. (And I’ll get to the point in a later post.)
The best part is now that the Pools are complete I can start my full-on analysis of the competition for your education and enlightenment.
I know, I know – I’m as excited as you are.
Possibly even more so…
