I know it goes against the whole ethos of the interwebthingy, but I’m trying to stick with a policy of quality over quantity. (Which is not to claim that what I compose here is ipso facto the Best Stuff Ever, simply that it’s the Best Stuff I Can Do. There’s a gap there that I deeply resent.)
I’ve set myself a target of one post a day here at the Order, which may not sound like much unless you understand that I am a very slow writer. (LittleDavyOne says that’s because I’m a slow thinker. I’m still coming up with my rejoinder to that, but when I do it will be a Mitt Romney-class zinger.)
That’s because I write, then re-write, then throw it away and start again, and then do some research on the interwebthingy, and before you know it it’s time for lunch, and standing looking at the lawn for five minutes thinking it needs a mow, and then having a lie down for just ten minutes to help the digestion, and so on and so forth.
There’s a related reason that I don’t write more, here or on The Twitter, which some other people might like to take on board. It’s that I just don’t have that much to say that is worth your time.
Sure I could give you my opinion on the Israel-Palestinian conflict, or fluoride in town supply water, or whether Princess Kate Kardashian should lose weight or get pregnant or something.
But really, would it make a scintilla of difference to anybody’s life? Or would it just steal away several of your heart beats to no good effect?
I try to bring that same discipline as a consumer of the interwebthingy. I do not need more and more, I need less and better. In particular, I move quickly and quietly away from sites that jump the shark by wandering far beyond their expertise or core purpose.
Here at the Order of the Black Heart, we’ll stick to our knitting. It’s restricted to talking about rugby, the meaning of life, rugby, and being a bit bewildered. And rugby.
Seems like enough to be going on with, very slowly.
